Questa scultura rappresenta un drago, animale mitologico portatore di fuoco, adagiato su uno specchio d’acqua. Il drago immerge nell’acqua il suo muso, strumento delle sue fiamme e simbolo della sua potenza; si crea uno stato di quiete ed equilibrio tra i due elementi, acqua e fuoco.
L’ispirazione per questa scultura è venuta dall’aver trovato un ramo di acero che mi evocava la testa di un drago. Infatti narici, pupilla e il corno sopra l’occhio sono dei nodi naturali del ramo di legno. Questa è stato il mio primo tentativo del 2017 di raffigurare questa creatura.
This sculpture represents a dragon, mythological animal giver of fire, eased down on stretch of water. The dragon immerses his nose, source of his flames and symbol of his power; it creates a situation of tranquility and balance between the two elements, water and fire. The inspiration for this sculpture cames from the form of a maple branch that evoked in me the head of a dragon. In fact nostril, pupil and horn above the eye are natural knots of the branch. This was my first attempt, back in 2017, to depict this creature.
